How do I view sheet music on this site?
To view and print sheet music from this site, you will need the Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader installed on your computer. If you can view the sheet
music on this site, you already have the Acrobat Reader installed, and you should be able to print the music you purchase from Knecht Music.
If you are unable to view the sheet music samples on this site, you will need to download the free Acrobat Reader; this is very quick, simple, and easy (and best of all, entirely free, with no trial period or shareware fees). To download the Reader, go to http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html. After you have downloaded the program, you need to then install it. Just locate the downloaded file on your hard drive, and double-click it to begin the installation.
How do I purchase? How long must I wait to receive sheet music?
It is simple to purchase sheet music from Knecht Music, and you will receive an instant download link directly following your purchase (in addition, the download link will be instantly emailed to your email address that is associated with your Paypal account; you don't even have to proceed to the download link in the purchase process to receive the download link via email!). No waiting! A copyright license will also be instantly emailed to you, and we ask that you print the license and keep it with your sheet music copies. The copyright license will list the title(s) and quantity purchased, and ways that you are and aren't permitted to legally use the music. To purchase sheet music, simply type in the quantity that you want and click "Buy Now." Then follow the Paypal payment process. You don't have to have a Paypal account to purchase; if you don't have a Paypal account, after you've clicked "Proceed to Checkout," simply click "Continue" on the left rather than logging into a Paypal account on the right.
The rest of the payment process is simple: enter your information, then click "Review order and continue." Review your order, click "Pay Now," and on the next page click "IMPORTANT: Click here to download your music!" At this point, a security warning will pop up. This is a standard message and your information is safe if you proceed by clicking "Continue." But if you're uncomfortable with proceeding at this point, that's okay; you can stop here in the purchase process and simply check your email (if you have a Paypal account, check the email address that's associated with your Paypal account); the download link to the sheet music you purchased will be instantly emailed to you, even if you don't click "Continue" after the security warning pop-up! If you do click "Continue," you will next click the "Download" link to download your music. You have one hour to download your music and two download attempts available to you.
In your email, you should receive an email from us with the receipt number and the download link to sheet music. You'll also receive a second email with the copyright license in it; please print the license and keep it with your sheet music copies at all times. You'll receive a third email from Paypal, confirming your order. Let us know if you have any questions or problems with the purchase process: Contact us!
Will my credit card transaction at Knecht Music be secure?
When you order sheet music from Knecht Music, your information is completely safe, secure, and encrypted. We use Paypal, the trusted and SSL secure credit card processor of EBay and many other large online businesses, to process orders; we never even see your credit card information. In the purchase process, after you click "IMPORTANT: Click here to download your music," a security warning about your information being sent over an unencrypted connection will pop up. If you don't feel comfortable proceeding at this point, that is okay! Your order has been processed already, at this point, and you may end the purchase process and immediately go into your email to find your download link to the sheet music you purchased. You will have one hour to click the download link in your email, which will be immediately, automatically sent to the email address you entered upon purchase (or the email address associated with your Paypal account, if you have one). PayPal utilizes the latest in browser security. Their Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software is the industry standard and among the best software available today for secure online commerce transactions. It encrypts all of your personal information, including credit card number, name, and address, so that it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. Transactions occur on PayPal's secure server, not on Knecht Music's server. Neither Knecht Music nor PayPal will use any of your information to bombard you with e-junkmail; nor will we ever share your information with anyone. Please feel free to read more about secure transactions with PayPal at https://www.paypal.com.
What's copyright license, and can I make unlimited copies of sheet music after I purchase?
No, you are not permitted to make unlimited copies of sheet music purchased from Knecht Music (with the exception of free sheet music on the Free Music page)! When you buy a sheet music piece from Knecht Music, you
are purchasing copyright license, or legal permission, to print and/or photocopy the sheet music a limited, specified number of times. You need to be aware of the specific number of copies you have
purchased copyright license to reproduce, and you may not make extra copies without paying copyright license for them, under ANY circumstances. You may legally reproduce only the number of copies
you paid copyright license fees for, and no more. If you need additional copies, you will need to visit our site again and purchase copyright license for the additional copies (purchase
the same sheet music title again, in the additional quantity desired). If you've forgotten how many copies you have purchased license to duplicate, look in the "Quantity" box on your Knecht Music Copyright License, or contact us.
In addition, under U.S. copyright law, you are not permitted to electronically transfer any of our sheet music, recorded music, or MP3s to others; you are also not permitted to record the music without written consent from Knecht Music. You must always keep the Knecht Music Copyright License together with the sheet music you purchase. It is illegal (not to mention dishonest) to print and/or photocopy
more reproductions than you paid copyright license fees for. The continuation of our business (and the low pricing of our sheet music) depends upon your integrity in this matter, and we trust our customers.
Help! I'm having problems with my new sheet music!
Bottom line...contact us and we'll help you resolve your issue. We'll troubleshoot with you, email or mail a hard copy of your music to you, or give you a refund . . . the choice is yours. If you'd like to try troubleshooting on your own before contacting us, keep reading.
If downloadable sheet music purchased from this site looks strange, (e.g., the notes look like little boxes, text font looks weird, you're getting errors (e.g., CMap
Encoding or other errors, music looks like a blank page, printing problems, etc.), please try the following troubleshooting solutions. If these methods do not work for you,
contact us and we'll troubleshoot further with you.
Solution #1 (Graphic Problems--try this first): If the sheet music looks strange try saving the file to your hard drive and working offline: Download the attachment from your email
again, and this time choose "Save this file to disk". (If you're downloading a file from the Free Music page, right-click the link and choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link As".) Choose
the location on your hard drive where you would like to place the file. After it's on your hard drive, launch the Acrobat Reader (independent of your browser), then open the file using the
File/Open command in the Acrobat Reader, as usual. This solves many graphic problems.
Solution #2 (Graphic Problems--try this second): Often, a graphic or other type of problem is caused by an old version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If the suggestion above didn't
work, try uninstalling your old version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader, and download the most recent update (files on our site work best with version 4.05 or higher). You may download
the new update for free at www.adobe.com. Make sure that you download the proper Reader for your system (Windows ME, Windows 2000, etc.). Check www.adobe.com for current
version info and updates. Downloading a newer version of the Acrobat Reader can helped with font problems: when the notes look like little boxes, when the music just looks generally
weird, or when the music refuses to print, etc.
Solution #3 (Printing Problems): If you're having printing problems, find out if your computer is capable of printing another type of file (like a .txt file) from another application such as Word Pad or
Microsoft Word. If not, your problem is system wide. It could be low system resources, insufficient memory on your printer, or a poor connection between printer and computer. Try
restarting your computer, then print a .pdf file (from this site). If it prints correctly, your system may have been out of memory or resources.
Or, you may need to update your printer driver. Contact the manufacturer of your printer. Additional help for printing problems may be found at
Adobe Acrobat Support.
Solution #4 (Page Looks Blank): If you see a blank page in your browser when you download a .pdf file, upgrade to the latest version of the Acrobat Reader (see Solution #2
above for details). Or, try this:
If you have Acrobat Reader 4.0: Open the reader, Click "File", Click "Preferences, Click "General". Clear the "Web Browser Integration Check Box". Click "OK".
If you have Acrobat Reader 5.0 or higher: Open the reader, on the "Edit" menu click "Preferences", Click "Options", Clear the "Display PDF in Browser" check box. Click "OK".
Now when you download a .pdf file, you'll be prompted to open the file or save it to disk. If you save the file, you can open it with the Reader. If you open the file, it will be opened in
the Reader, not the web browser.
Solution #5 (If all else fails): Try downloading and printing a file from this site (first/last pages from our available sample scores) from another computer. You might try it from a library computer, or you may have a friend that would allow you to try downloading the file from another system. Most of the time the attachment will download properly from another system.
We are willing to further troubleshoot with you, if you need further assistance. Contact us and describe the problem in detail.
Please include the following information:
1. Are you using Netscape or Internet Explorer? Which version?
2. Do you get any error messages when you try to download or print the music? What is the exact wording of the error message? Please be specific.
3. Are you using Mac, Windows, Unix?
4. Is your printer postscript or non-postscript?
5. Which version of the Acrobat Reader is installed on your computer?
6. Is your printer able to print another type of file (like a .txt file) from an application other than Acrobat Reader?
How do I hear MP3 files on this site?
Recordings in MP3 format may be played on an MP3 player, such as the following:
Real Jukebox
Winamp

Imaginality Productions C4 Player
Quintessential Player
ITunes
When you click on the MP3 links on this site, your media player should open the sound file automatically.
