To view and print sheet music from this site, you will need the Adobe Acrobat PDF Reader installed on your computer. If you can view the sheet
music on this site, you already have the Acrobat Reader installed, and you should be able to print the music you purchase from Knecht Music.
If you are unable to view the sheet music samples on this site, you will need to
download and install the Acrobat Reader. This link brings you to www.adobe.com, where you may follow Adobe's quick and easy instructions to download and install the
appropriate Reader for your computer. The Reader is entirely free--there are no fees or payments whatsoever. Adobe suggests that you close all other programs, including your web
browser and your internet connection, during installation. At the Adobe Acrobat site, you will register by typing in your name, email address, etc., and you may choose to de-select
boxes to avoid receiving email advertisements. You will specify which type of system you have, and what language you would like the Reader to use. Be sure to specify a directory
for the file (& remember where you put it), so that you may find it easily. When the download is finished, you must install the Reader by double-clicking the file in your File
Manager/Explorer program, or by using the "Run" command.
It is simple to purchase sheet music from Knecht Music by credit/debit card or digital check. To purchase using credit card or digital check, simply type in the quantity you wish to purchase, select voicing, version, etc. (if applicable), and click a "Buy Now" button beneath any sheet music title. Please note that digital checks take approximately 10 days to clear, so if you order via this method your sheet music may take much longer to arrive. When you pay by credit/debit card, your sheet music will be rush-emailed to you (usually within 24 hours). You will receive a .zip file containing a .pdf file of the sheet music you ordered, plus
a copyright license that you must keep with your sheet music copies at all times. If you order by digital check, it could take up to two weeks to receive music (but usually it takes less time). Remember ... your sheet music will be emailed to you. We do NOT provide an "instant download" method.

NO, YOU ARE NOT PERMIITTED TO MAKE UNLIMITED COPIES OF ANY SHEET MUSIC PURCHASED FROM KNECHT MUSIC (with the possible exception of free sheet music)! When you buy a sheet music piece from Knecht Music, you
are purchasing copyright license, or legal permission, to print and/or photocopy the sheet music a limited, specified number of times. You need to be aware of the specific number of copies you have
purchased copyright license to reproduce, and you may not make extra copies without paying copyright license for them...under ANY circumstances, including emergency circumstances. You may legally reproduce only the number of copies
you paid copyright license fees for, and no more. If you need additional copies, you will need to visit our site again and purchase copyright license for the additional copies (purchase
the same sheet music title again, in the additional quantity desired). If you've forgotten how many copies you have purchased license to duplicate, look in the "Quantity" box on your Knecht Music Copyright License, or contact us.
Furthermore, under U.S. copyright law, you are not permitted to electronically transfer any of our sheet music, recorded music, or midis to others; you are also not permitted to record the music without written consent from Knecht Music. You must always keep the Knecht Music Copyright License together with the sheet music you purchase. It is illegal (not to mention dishonest) to print and/or photocopy
more reproductions than you paid copyright license fees for. The continuation of our business (and the low pricing of our sheet music) depends upon your integrity in this matter. We will continue to offer downloadable, low priced sheet
music as long as our customers continue to abide by the law and purchase copyright license for each additional copy they print or photocopy.
MINIMUM PURCHASE REQUIRED: All choral music (SATB, SAB, SSA, cantatas, etc.) offered on this site requires a 16 copy minimum purchase. No minimum purchase is required for
vocal music (solos, duets, etc.) or piano music. If you purchase more than 16 copies of a choral piece, you must enter the higher quantity in the quantity box as you check out. However, if you purchase
less than 16 copies of a choral piece, you will receive a perusal score that is watermarked with the words "Sample--Illegal to Duplicate". The watermark is necessary to maintain our 16 copy minimum purchase. Please only purchase one perusal copy if you choose to buy less than 16 copies of a choral piece, since the watermark will inhibit you from using the perusal copy for choir rehearsal; the perusal score is for perusal purposes only, not for rehearsal and/or performance purposes, so it makes no sense to purchase less than 16 copies of a choral piece (unless you only purchase 1 perusal copy). You are not legally permitted to duplicate more than one copy of a perusal score.
If you decide to use the music you have perused for your choir, you will need to return to this web site and purchase at least 16 copies; then you will receive an unwatermarked score and a copyright license to make the specified number of duplications you paid for.
You may view sample pages of every piece of music on our site, and hear midis for many pieces as well. Please feel free to download and print our sample pages for perusal purposes.
If you have already purchased at least 16 copies of a choral piece from Knecht Music and you need to return and purchase just a few more copies, please contact us to let us know that you have already purchased the 16 copy minimum required. In the email to us, please include your full name, the choral title you purchased, and the email address you used to make the order. After we reply to your email approving a purchase of less than 16 copies, you may return to www.knechtmusic.com and purchase the number of copies that you need.
Bottom line...contact us and we'll help you resolve your issue. We'll troubleshoot with you, email or snail-mail your music to you, or give you a refund...the choice is yours. If you'd like to try troubleshooting on your own before contacting us, keep reading.
If downloadable sheet music purchased from this site looks strange, (e.g., the notes look like little boxes, text font looks weird, you're getting errors (e.g., C Map
Encoding or other errors, music looks like a blank page, printing problems, etc.), please try the following troubleshooting solutions. If these methods do not work for you,
contact us and we'll troubleshoot further with you.
Solution #1 (Graphic Problems--try this first): If the sheet music looks strange try saving the file to your hard drive and working offline: Download the attachment from your email
again, and this time choose "Save this file to disk". (If you're downloading a file from the Free Music page, right-click the link and choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link As".) Choose
the location on your hard drive where you would like to place the file. After it's on your hard drive, launch the Acrobat Reader (independent of your browser), then open the file using the
File/Open command in the Acrobat Reader, as usual. This solves many graphic problems.
Solution #2 (Graphic Problems--try this second): Often, a graphic or other type of problem is caused by an old version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader. If the suggestion above didn't
work, try uninstalling your old version of the Adobe Acrobat Reader, and download the most recent update (files on our site work best with version 4.05 or higher). You may download
the new update for free at www.adobe.com. Make sure that you download the proper Reader for your system (Windows ME, Windows 200, etc.). Check www.adobe.com for current
version info and updates. Downloading a newer version of the Acrobat Reader can helped with font problems: when the notes look like little boxes, when the music just looks generally
weird, or when the music refuses to print, etc.
Solution #3 (Printing Problems): If you're having printing problems, find out if your computer is capable of printing another type of file (like a .txt file) from another application such as Word Pad or
Microsoft Word. If not, your problem is system wide. It could be low system resources, insufficient memory on your printer, or a poor connection between printer and computer. Try
restarting your computer, then print a .pdf file (from this site). If it prints correctly, your system may have been out of memory or resources.
Or, you may need to update your printer driver. Contact the manufacturer of your printer. Additional help for printing problems may be found at
Adobe Acrobat Support.
Solution #4 (Page Looks Blank): If you see a blank page in your browser when you download a .pdf file, upgrade to the latest version of the Acrobat Reader (see Solution #2
above for details). Or, try this:
If you have Acrobat Reader 4.0: Open the reader, Click "File", Click "Preferences, Click "General". Clear the "Web Browser Integration Check Box". Click "OK".
If you have Acrobat Reader 5.0: Open the reader, on the "Edit" menu click "Preferences", Click "Options", Clear the "Display PDF in Browser" check box. Click "OK".
Now when you download a .pdf file, you'll be prompted to open the file or save it to disk. If you save the file, you can open it with the Reader. If you open the file, it will be opened in
the Reader, not the web browser.
Solution #5 (If all else fails): Try downloading and printing a file from this site (first/last pages from our available sample scores) from another computer. You might try it from a library computer, or you
may have a friend, family member or co-worker that would allow you to try downloading the file from their system. Most of the time the attachment will download properly from another
system.
We are willing to further troubleshoot with you, if you need further assistance. Contact us and describe the problem in detail.
Please include specific information about your system, error
messages, etc.:
1. Are you using Netscape or Internet Explorer? Which version?
2. Do you get any error messages when you try to download or print the music? What is the exact wording of the error message? Please be specific.
3. Are you using Mac, Windows, Unix?
4. Is your printer postscript or non-postscript?
5. Which version of the Acrobat Reader is installed on your computer?
6. Is your printer able to print another type of file (like a .txt file) from an application other than Acrobat Reader?
How do I play the midi and realaudio files on this site?
In order to play midi files, you will need a computer with sound capability and a speaker. Your web browser needs to be able to recognize midi files, as well. You may need to tell
your browser what the MIME type is (browsers identify files by using MIME types). You will also need to tell your browser what program it should use to play the file. The MIME type
for midi files is "audio/mid". The program used to play the file will depend on your browser. In Windows, it's most likely MPLAYER.EXE.
